Born in a trunk, third generation Dick Ray was brought up in a music hall traditional family spanning three decades.

His early years as a child saw him attending almost every school in the UK as his parents appeared in theatres city to city nationwide. On leaving school he became a dancer taught by the famous American Buck and Wing tap dancer Max Rivers and appeared in his parent’s shows until entering the Royal Air Force for National Service.

On leaving the service at 21 years of age he became one of the youngest touring producing managers in the country, often with two productions on the road at the same time. His shows brought him to Jersey in the Channel Islands to appear at the Jersey Opera House. As the saying goes, he loved the theatre so much  - he bought it and thus began twenty one of the hardest working years of his life.

On selling the Opera House to the States of Jersey Government to protect it’s future, Dick Ray embarked on a new career presenting major concerts both in Jersey and the Isle of Man featuring international stars including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Katherine Jenkins, Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra with Alison Moyet, James Morrison McFly, Russell Watson and Status Quo.

Mr Ray is proud to produce ADGE's Othello production in Jersey this July.
